We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time, Chaplain to join our Pastoral Care Team. The Chaplain serves as part of the pastoral care team to provide religious and spiritual ministries to those served by CH, especially within the context of Southgate and other CH communities as needed. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health.
Competencies:
- Responsible for ministry to the patients/ residents of RRBH geriatric and Southgate services.
- Spiritual advocacy for residents/patients.
- Welcomes all new residents, providing orientation to pastoral services, and screening for spiritual need.
- Provide for worship services on a regular schedule in Southgate.
- Conducts small group ministry, A and B wing RRPH.
- Conducts small group ministry in Southgate.
- Participate in inter-disciplinary care planning.
- Oversee volunteer pastoral care services in Southgate.
- Provide for worship services on a regular schedule. B and C wing in RRPH.
- Participate in the CH rotation of worship leadership.
- Available for coverage for other pastoral care staff.
- Acts as liaison with residents' pastors/churches.
- Provides pastoral care interventions and to support to residents/patients as needed and to families as appropriate.
- Performs staff orientation to pastoral services and issues in the area of responsibility.
- Provides Ministry to dying.
- Conducts funeral home visits and memorial services when appropriate.
- Visits hospitalized residents in local hospitals.
- Accept preaching assignments in local churches.
- Performs pastoral counseling upon referral.
- Celebration and blessing of significant life events.
Schedule: 8:00am-4:00pm, Monday - Friday.
Education:
- Master in Divinity (or its equivalent) is required.
- Specialized training in psychiatric or long-term care settings preferred.
- A minimum of one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is required.
Special Skills/Licenses:
- Ordination and denominational endorsement are essential.
- Board certification as a chaplain desired but not essential.
- The candidate should also possess a thorough understanding of, and ability to work within a Reformed theological perspective. Special skills include leading public worship, preaching, teaching, leading groups, individual pastoral care, and administration.
- Candidates who also possess LSW, LCSW, LAC, LCADC or LPC are desired.
