JOB SUMMARY

Hourly Rate Range: $30.00-$32.00

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Lead Mechanic to join the Plant Operations department.  The Lead Mechanic operates and maintains physical plant equipment (i.e. boilers, etc.) and has a working knowledge of Christian Health’s BMS, mechanical, electrical and utility systems. Responsible for all trades needed to expedite daily activities of the department including but not limited to: groundskeeper, security service, all maintenance technician levels, clerical support, outside vendors, contractors, consultants, and architects. The Lead Mechanic shall be accountable to the managers and supervisors. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health.

 

Competencies:

 
  • Operates and maintains physical plant equipment (i.e.: boilers, etc.) and has a working knowledge of Christian Health's energy management system. 
  • Makes repairs on systems on all trade disciplines (i.e.: tearing down boilers, pumps). 
  • Works on snow removal operations. 
  • Possesses good computer skills. 
  • Assists groundskeepers. 
  • Reports safety deficiencies to Plant Operation Managers. 
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks as assigned. 
  • Plans and lays out projects as requested. 
  • Accurately estimates and orders materials. 
  • Provides leadership to complete projects utilizing a project team. 
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of all Energy Management Systems.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of all Physical Plant systems in all buildings. 
  • Supervises Maintenance Technicians. 
  • Maintains daily walk through logs for all Campus. 
  • Conducts rounds to detect safety and mechanical issues/concerns (i.e.: walking or driving). 
  • Conducts electrical and refrigeration system checks. 
  • Creates and closes work orders on TMS System. 
  • Assumes In Charge status when managers are not available. 
  • Maintains inventory of repair and replacement parts on all campus.
  • Delegates daily work orders and other tasks as they develop. 
  • Coordinates with Nursing and Materials Management for ordering of medical equipment replacement parts. 
  • Utilizes computer to receive work requests, as well as e-mails. 
  • Must be able to be on-call as needed to support Plant Operations staff in need of assistance for all types of situations.

Schedule: 7am-3pm, Monday - Friday.

 

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrates compliance with the CH ASPIRE Standards of Performance.

 

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience as a Maintenance Technician and demonstrates proficiency in one construction trade.
  • Experience with HVAC equipment, electrical, and plumbing required.
  • Valid New Jersey Drivers License.
  • Valid CDL Driver's License preferred.

  • New Jersey Black Seal Low Pressure Boiler License preferred. 

  • Computer literate.
