We have an exciting opportunity to join our Marketing team. We are seeking a full-time Assistant Director to serve as a valued communications leader within our organization. The Assistant Director of Communications will be responsible for communications with the families and sponsors of our residents, patients, and clients in close collaboration with executive directors and administrators. They will support the Director of Marketing and Communications with media, public relations, and corporate communications. The Assistant Director of Communications will also oversee the Internal Communications Manager and work collaboratively with colleagues in Human Resources. A successful Assistant Director of Communications will be an exceptional writer, a creative storyteller, adept at communications strategy and media relations, and will maintain strict confidentiality. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces the mission of Christian Health. 

 

Responsibilities/Competencies:

 

Communications Strategy and Corporate Communications

  • Work closely with marketing team members, including the copywriter, to support departmental goals and ensure a consistent brand voice across internal and external channels.
  • Monitor trends in communications strategy and technology related to resident/patient and internal communications to inform and enhance communications strategy.
  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of communications efforts and leverage these findings to refine the communications strategy.
  • Work in partnership with human resources and information services to develop a process for segmenting employee data to enable targeted communications by campus, program, department, and other key demographics.
  • Develop communications plans for organizational changes, strategic initiatives, and employee engagement efforts.
  • Partner with marketing colleagues for content planning as it supports publications and digital content.
  • Champion Christian Health’s values throughout communications, specifically the organization’s commitment to care excellence and employee engagement/culture.
  • Write, edit, and distribute various written communications and leadership presentations.
  • Collaborate with marketing colleagues to contribute to marketing communications planning and support departmental projects as needed.

Internal Communications

  • Enhance the employee experience, drive organizational culture, and align communication efforts with the organization's broader strategic objectives.
  • Supervise the internal communications manager and ensure that internal communications are timely, relevant, and engaging.
  • Lead internal communications strategy with support from the Internal Communications Manager to drive awareness of key initiatives.
  • Increase and maintain a high volume of engagement with internal communications channels, including the employee app, employee newsletter, and intranet site.
  • Consistently evaluate, assess, and improve channels and applications used to communicate with team members across different campuses.
  • Ensure seamless internal communications applications and messaging integration for new sub-brands and partner organizations.
  • Leverage internal communications channels to educate the growing Christian Health team about the depth and breadth of our programs and services to equip team members to serve as brand ambassadors.
  • Partner with human resources and cross-functional business partners to unify messaging and roll out new initiatives.

Family and Sponsor Communications

  • Help develop and optimize Christian Health’s patient and family communications portal.
  • Coordinate with clinical and operational leadership within the senior living continuum and information services colleagues to manage the content in the family communication portal, ensuring it is timely, brand-commensurate, and patient and family-centered.
  • Lead family and sponsor communications in partnership with Christian Health clinical and community leadership to increase transparency and improve resident/patient/client experience.
  • Actively participate in clinical meetings as needed and develop and adapt processes for communicating with various stakeholders during a significant health event.
  • Partner with clinical leadership to ensure consistent and timely communications accompany any health-related event, policy change, or incident.

Public Relations

  • Support public relations in partnership with department leaders and PR agency.
  • Draft and develop news releases, publish and share them with the appropriate channels and outlets, and collaborate with marketing colleagues as appropriate.
  • Cultivate relationships with local journalists and pitch story ideas supporting earned media goals.
  • Support crisis communications activities with team leaders as required.
  • Support team leaders with development and education related to communications policies, media relations training, and interview preparation.
 

Schedule: 9am-5pm, Monday - Friday.

 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a relevant field.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrates compliance with the CH ASPIRE Standards of Performance.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong communications professional with 7+ years of experience managing patient communications and PR and media relations.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry trends. Healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms.
  • Proven proofreading skills and outstanding attention to detail.
