Salary Range: $95,000 - $100,000

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Clinical Educator for our long-term care division. The Clinical Educator will be responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating and/or facilitating clinical education and orientation programs for the Long-Term Care Division, including Heritage Manor East, West, and Southgate. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health.

 
Competencies:
  • Maintains good communication with senior management, department heads, and frontline staff to ensure the clinical education needs of staff are being met. 
  • Develops, implements, evaluates and/or facilitates clinical education programs for the Long-Term Care Division, including Heritage Manor East, West, and Southgate.
  • Applies research findings derived from current professional literature and accrediting agencies in the development and implementation of education programs offered to employees at CH. 
  • Coordinates room reservations, set up, catering, parking, AV equipment, and program handouts for in-service programs. 
  • Ensures all completed in-service programs are submitted to CE office assistant for inclusion into the education data base and individual employee education file.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of standards/regulations of accrediting agencies as they relate to the delivery of nursing care.
  • Demonstrates human relations knowledge and skills in leadership, group dynamics, motivation, change theory, and mentoring. 
  • Maintains national certification in psychiatric nursing. 
  • Safeguards and ensures confidentiality of all CH employee education records. Releases information only to authorized individuals. 
  • Ensures clinical in-service programs are offered for all three shifts, when appropriate. 
  • Stays abreast of current trends and practices in the healthcare field by reading and reviewing professional literature, or by participating in various continuing education programs. 
  • Coordinates, facilitates, and/or teaches clinical re-education sessions, in conjunction with the requesting department head and Human Resource personnel.
  • Sends e-mail reminder notices announcing in-service programs. 
  • Inspects and evaluates clinical teaching materials and equipment monthly to ensure they are in safe, and working condition.
  • Promptly addresses equipment failures and ensures issues are resolved. 
  • Coordinates, facilitates, assists with teaching responsibilities, and annually evaluates/revises the clinical orientation program for all newly hired nursing staff at Christian Health. 
  • Assists with JCAHO and NJDOH survey preparation as requested. 
  • Ensures monthly in-service topics are submitted to CE office assistant in a timely manner for inclusion on the Monthly Education Calendar and Annual Course Catalog.
  • Plans, facilitates, and teaches in the following on-going programs:
    • Preceptor Development Workshop
    • Nursing Clinical Competency Workshop 
    • Crisis Prevention/Intervention Course 
    • Mental Health Clinical Competency Review 
    • Alzheimer's Training Program 
    • Other programs, as deemed necessary by the CE Director
    • Ensures all in-service programs offered at the division or Christian Health-wide level include the following:
      • Lesson plan 
      • Current references from professional sources 
      • Attendance sheet 
      • Post-test and/or competency checklist 
      • Program evaluation 
      • Assists with preparation, review, and revisions of CE policies as determined by the CE Director. 
      • Conducts an Annual Clinical Education Needs Assessment. Uses information from survey to plan future educational offerings.

Schedule: 8am-4pm, Monday - Friday.

 

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an NLN accredited nursing program required. Master's degree preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrates compliance with the CH ASPIRE Standards of Performance.

 

Qualifications:

  • 3 years clinical experience in long-term care nursing required. Previous experience in staff development/clinical education.
  • Capability to use the following computer applications: Microsoft Word, Outlook, e-mail, the Internet, PowerPoint, and Excel is preferred.
  • Must be willing to successfully pursue the New Jersey Nurse Aide Training in long-term care facilities training and competency evaluation program (NATCEP) to become a Certified NATCEP Instructor.
