Salary Range: $55,000 - $57,500

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Activity Director in Longview. The primary responsibility of the Activity Director is to provide oversight of resident programming for the Longview and Courtyard areas in compliance with existing assisted living regulations and standards as well as assuring that the physical, intellectual, recreational, and social needs of all residents are being met. The Activity Director is directly responsible for planning and implementing activities as well as the direct supervision of ancillary activity staff including fiscal accountability. The Activity Director insures that all services are rendered on an ongoing basis. Demonstrates an understanding of and embraces Assisted Living principles and the mission statement of the Christian Health Care Center.

- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs an effective and comprehensive activity program.
- Effectively publicizes programs among the residents and staff, encourages participation.
- Effectively schedules and directs work to assure timely completion of projects and events.
- Reviews and approves/denies departmental purchase requests as appropriate.
- Works effectively with Human Resources department in the recruitment and selection of departmental personnel.
- Provides Administrator with regular verbal/written feedback and reports.
- Adheres to budgeted staffing levels.
- Develops, monitors, reports, and reviews Departmental Performance Improvement indicators in conjunctionwith PI staff, for appropriateness of study and timely completion.
- Performs other related duties as deemed necessary and appropriate, as directed.
- Takes reasonable steps to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations and accrediting bodies related to area of responsibility.
- Reports observations/changes in resident condition to nurse.
- Obtains information through resident/family interview concerning the resident's background to better provide activities to meet their needs.
- Demonstrates flexibility/creativity in programming; responsive to resident requests and needs.
- Performs administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, charge slips, reports, etc. and submits to the Administrator as required.
- Actively serves on various committees as directed.
- Reviews employee scheduled and worked hours on a weekly basis, including oversight of usage of benefit time (sick, personal, vacation time).
- Schedules activities outside of facility such as picnics, cultural and religious programs; arranges transportation.
- Conducts one or more groups with residents to address resident needs and explore their interests in an environment that encourages peer interaction and verbal expression.
- Distributes individual calendarsin a timely manner.
- Keeps abreast of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards, and make recommendations on changes in programming/services and related policies and procedures.
- Writes and posts monthly calendar, develops calendar one month in advance.
- Attends scheduled/organizational meetings as required.
- Schedules performers, community groups to be part of the offered activities.
- Completes employee performance evaluations on a timely basis.
- Assists in preparation for, and participation in various regulatory and accreditation surveys.
- Completes Departmental Annual Report on a timely basis.
- Ensures timely completion of 45 day new hire questionnaires for new hires.
- Effectively manages Human Resources related information systems.
- Ensures incidents, accidents, or unsafe conditions are reported, utilizing Center reporting software as per center policy.
- Develops reviews and updates departmental job descriptions on a timely basis.
- Ensures completion of new employee job specific orientation.
- Makes substitutions to activities schedule when necessary.
- Develops, implements, reviews, and updates written departmental Policies and Procedure on a timely basis, as necessary.
- Completes activity surveys with each resident. Shares pertinent informationwith staff.
- Ensures adequate staffing coverage to implement programming and serve meals, and assists as needed.
- Ensures support with coverage at the reception desk as needed.
Schedule: 8am-4pm, Monday - Friday.
Education: Bachelor’s degree with a major or concentration in therapeutic recreation, art therapy, psychology or other related field required.
