We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time, Chaplain to join our Pastoral Care Team. The Chaplain serves as part of the pastoral care team to provide religious and spiritual ministries to those served by CH, especially within the context of Longview and other CH communities as needed. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health. 

 

Competencies:

  • Conducts spiritual advocacy for residents/patients.
  • Celebration and blessing of significant life events.
  • Responsible for Ministry to the Heritage Manor residents including both long-term and post-acute care residents.
  • Provide Ministry to dying. Welcomes new residents, providing orientation to pastoral services.
  • Conducts regular rounds, sustaining pastoral care.
  • Conduct facility worship services on a regular schedule.
  • Conducts small groups focusing on support Bible study, prayer and/or life review.
  • Conducts pastoral conversation and support.
  • Recruits, trains, oversees volunteers serving as Ministers of Hospitality.
  • Accepts 1 - 2 preaching assignments in local churches.
  • Performs staff orientation to pastoral services.
  • Provides special interventions as needed and requested by residents, facility staff, families and others, i.e. pastors, physicians, etc.
  • Conducts funerals and memorial services as requested.
  • As a CH leader, serves as a member of the Ethics Committee, Palliative Care Team and any other policy or implementation committee/ team as requested, especially with a focus on incorporating pastoral care ministries.
  • Liaison with pastors/churches of residents.
  • Identifies residents' essential spiritual need incorporating interventions into the spiritual care plan.
  • Performs pre-admission pastoral support.
  • Performs pastoral counseling upon referral including crisis intervention, decision support and grief counseling.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary process, including documentation of care, family meetings, and consultations.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm

 

Education: Master’s in Divinity (or its equivalent) is required. Clinical Pastoral Education (or an equivalent program), particularly through specialized training in long-term care settings, is preferred.

 

Experience: Two years of experience in a long-term care setting is preferred. The candidate should have previous experience in ministering with the aging population.
