We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time, Director Pastoral Care to join our Pastoral Care department. This position will direct the pastoral care team of Chaplains and Counselors to provide religious and spiritual ministries to those served by CH, including the community. Responsibilities include leading public worship, preaching, teaching and leading groups. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of the Christian Health.

 

Competencies:

  • Supervises a Pastoral Care team of seven to include Chaplains, Counselors and administrative employees.
  • Oversees the provision of religious services for patients and clients of all religions and denominations.
  • Facilitates, when appropriate, contact between treatment teams, patients and their pastors for follow-up, assessment, treatment plan, and discharge planning.
  • Coordinates the religious activities of all patients, residents and clients and provides pastoral leadership and supervision to pastoral care staff, and students of the CH.
  • Insures liaison between Christian Health and the religious community by overseeing the church relations function.
  • Encourage an atmosphere of Christian care and compassion, providing leadership to integrate the mission in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Provides pastoral counseling, care and support to families of patients and clients. Acts as liaison between staff and family during times of difficult adjustment or crisis.
  • Provides group leadership with patients and clients that are consistent with patient/client need and treatment plan goals.
  • Coordinates and/or provides formal religious services (worship services, Sunday school, vespers, etc.) on a regular basis.
  • Oversees services designed to minister to faith groups; participates in presenting programs and other activities that encourage strong relationships with community churches.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm.

 

Education: Master’s degree in divinity is required. Specialized training in mental health setting in social work, psychology is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Ministerial experience with a denomination in the Reformed tradition is preferred. Experience in ministering to mental health and aging populations is preferred.

  • Ordination and denominational endorsement within the Reformed tradition are essential. The candidate should also possess a thorough understanding of, and ability to work within a Reformed theological perspective.
  • At least two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) are required; four or more CPE units are preferred.
  • Board Certification by an accredited agency is preferred.
